Mississippi blues musician L.C. Ulmer dies

ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Mississippi blues musician L.C. Ulmer died over the weekend.

Relatives say Ulmer's body was found in his home in Ellisville.

Jones County's Deputy Medical Examiner said Ulmer died of natural causes; however, Ulmer's exact cause of death is still pending.

Ulmer often played at concerts and festivals throughout the southeast, and appeared in the documentary "M for Mississippi: A Road Trip through the Birthplace of the Blues".

Born in Stringer in 1928, Ulmer picked up a guitar for the first time when he was nine years old, according to the Mississippi Folk Artist Directory.

Ulmer was 87.
