The tour is about 30 minutes. You have to get tickets, which are free, at the visitor center which is about 5 blocks away from the home. Then you can either walk or drive to the home. Tours run every 30 minutes but they only allow about 8 people per time slot so depending on how busy it is, there may be a wait. It was definitely neat to see as the inside of the home is exactly as it was when Bess died. Very interesting to see it kind of frozen in time right down to his car still sitting in the garage! As far as it being part of the walking trail, I'm not sure as we did not do that. I'm guessing though since you need tickets, you may go by it but not get the tour.

You mainly need to get there early so you can get a ticket. Tours are small. It’s getting places on a tour more Than money that’s the issue. It’s a National Park somota not costly.
