How often does it happen that you need to blast out a quick email or jot down an idea, but it's too long to tap out on your phone's tiny keyboard, and you left your laptop at home or don't want to deal with getting it out and booting it up? Microsoft hopes it's quite often. The company's new Universal Foldable Keyboard is meant for just this situation. It's a super-thin full keyboard that connects wirelessly to any device with Bluetooth, then folds up to the size of a passport when not in use. That makes it just about the most compact keyboard we've seen, if you don't count the strange but innovative TextBlade.
In addition to being tiny, it's resistant to spills, has a key for switching between your tablet and phone, and is claimed to have a three-month battery life. Not a bad idea to keep something like this around when on business — who hasn't been caught flatfooted with some family or work emergency while taking a lunch break or while relaxing by the pool?
The Universal Foldable Keyboard should cost $100 when it becomes available this July.
